What a day!!

Today was a big day for us. We took Abby in for her 2 week dr visit. I was really looking forward to this visit as I had 2 pages of questions for her dr. Plus, Abby has had a touch of colic over the past few days, and I was anxious to see what the dr had to say. When Abby cries, I cry. So we really needed some answers.

First of all, Abby is doing GREAT! She is still really small, but growing perfectly. She has gained 11 ounces and now weighs 5 lbs and 10 oz. This puts her in the 3rd percentile for weight, which means that 3% of girls at 2 weeks of age weigh the same or less and 97% of girls at her age weigh more. Therefore, we have some catching up to do. She grew 1/2 inch in length and now is 19 1/2 inches long, which is in the 10-25th percentile. And her head measured at 12.8, which is the same as her weight and is in the 3rd percentile. Overall, our "little" girl is doing great and got an A+ on her report card!!

Here are a few pictures I took of her at the dr's office. She wore the cutest little preemie outfit that Tracy McShan gave her when she was born. It's a little big on her, but she loves it. She loves it so much that every time I put it on her, she poops. I'm serious!! Every time! The fabric must really relax her and cause her to let loose. We had at least 3 diapers changes during our dr visit.

We learned today that we can start giving Abby a full bath. So tonight was her first real bath. I think I kinda jumped the gun, she is still so small that I almost lost her a few times in the mesh bath carrier. Not to mention how slippery she was! :) It also didn't help that she SLEPT the whole time. She was as limp as could be. She was asleep when we started and didn't wake up until I started to put lotion on her afterwards. I love these pictures that Stan took of her. You can really see how small she is compared to my hands.

Still asleep... Can you see the swirl on the top of her head?? :)

We get to start letting Abby sleep as long as she wants to throughout the night! Hopefully we'll all be a bit more happier these days. Abby does have colic and we just need to do whatever we can to make her comfortable when it comes on. The good thing is that it will eventually go away.

I think that is it for now. It was nice to hear from a dr that our sweet girl is doing great!!

Well, I must say that Abby looks absolutely stunning in that outfit. I'm glad to hear that she "enjoys" it as thoroughly as she does. Great news on the A+ appointment report card. Well done mom and Abby!
